Annapurna Ultra-Mountain 2012 ( 26th October – 6th November 2012)
The “zero” edition of this day running race will take place on November 2nd, 2012, from the Base camp of Annapurnas (4.130 m) to the Lake Phewa Pokhara (820 m).
To the program : 85 km (+1.200 m, -5500 m).
AUM is going to join a stay of 13 days in Nepal (in October 26th – November 6th, 2012), period of the school holidays in France.
The race will be preceded by a connection and acclimatization walking of five stages (120 km, + 6000 m, 3000 m) with a passage to Poon Hill (3.194 m). This ultra – mountain will be made in semi-autonomy and with a light porterage.
Contrary to the other races organized by the Knights of the Wind (Annapurna Mandala Trail, Everest Sky Race, Himal Race) , for Annapurna Ultra-Mountain, the runner will only carry on what he will need for the race. AUM, will be organized with a local Trek agency, in partnership with a club of Nepalese athletics. An other specific criteria of this race is that the route will be humanely locatable and secured for the mountain part mountain (65 km) and marked out on the final (10 km of track and 5 km of road).
With this new Himalayan race the least fast racers will have the possibility of splitting their effort on two days. Annapurna BC-Dhampus (55 km, + 1000 m, 4.500 m) and Dhampus-Pokhara (25 km, + 200 m, 1000 m).
This accessibility on an « adventure race » is also on the financial point of view, with a price of 1000 euros (without international flight) or a price of 2000 euros (International flights included (France/Nepal)).
